Deconstruction Reconstruction

Deconstruction Reconstruction

Senior thesis at Cornish College of the Arts. Through academic research, apparel design, and analog painting I wanted to explore the “grey area” that exists between the worlds of art and design, deconstructing my own notions of what both practices mean and constructing a new idea of design realized through the aesthetic theory of art. The medium for this exploration was through a line of hand-painted apparel as well as an anthology of texts on the research topic.

Apparel
Integral to this project was my exploration of textile painting. Combining functional objects with gestural, abstract forms was my attempt at reconciling my identity as both an artist and designer.
